I am starting this blog having already read to Genesis13, so I would like to go back and recap for myself some of my thoughts while reading the Creation story. If you are reading this and have any helpful insight or knowledge, please comment. This is a journey so I learn and learn correctly. By blogging my devotionals, I hope to air out any questions, thoughts, and nuggets of wisdom discovered.1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. God makes this so simple and clear to us....and yet there are those who still cling to other creation stories.
6. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. This word firmament puzzles me. I would like to do a study on it and its other uses in the Bible.
I love how God puts the creation story into such concrete terms....And God said..and then it was so. God is letting us see how he works and how powerful he is, but so many details are left out. Details that people have spent their lives trying to figure out. Scientists have studied the composition and processes of water and plants and animals trying to figure out their origin, but God just says that "and it was so." He could have written a thousand chapters for the Creation story and how exactly everything looked and sounded, etc. when he created, but he didn't. This frustrates some people I think who just want to know all the answers, but I love it. It's God telling us what happened and wanting us to take his word at his amazing creation process. It's faith. It's trust. It's wonderment. God doesn't have to explain himself to us, we are to see with faith and believe.
17. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18. and to rule over the day and over the night.... Light is to be the ruler of the earth.
