As I sat listening to Brother Garry's sermon about challenging our graduates, I kept thinking, "Who is Jonathon and why don't I know his story?" His story and faith was so strong and inspiring, yet I couldn't remember ever really studying him before. I'm sure I've heard of him in VBS or Sunday School as a kid, but still, why did his story come as a surprise to me?I came home and read some more about him and wondered how many other stories and Bible characters there are that I have yet to dig into and learn from. What other lessons could I learn from the Old Testament?
So, I am reading the Bible, starting in Genesis. I can't count the times I've tried and failed at making it through the OT, but this time I am really truly determined to try...no matter how long it takes me. I feel like I am at a point in my Christian life when I am just so hungry for all the hidden nuggets of truth and love in the Bible. I've always loved the Bible and hungered for God's word, but I honestly haven't really been willing to put in the time to really dig into what each verse means for me. I'm ready to explore the Bible with the big picture in mind and with the perspective that each and every verse in the Bible was put there by God for my benefit. So what is God telling me and what are the stories that he wants me to learn from?
